About Us
The Pajvani Lab exists at the intersection of development, metabolism, and cancer biology… but more specifically, we’re located at Columbia University in the City of New York as part of the Division of Endocrinology, within the Department of Medicine and the Institute of Human Nutrition.
From bench to bedside and back again, we use clinical observations to fuel basic and translational science. Our lab aims to uncouple obesity from its metabolic complications by identifying novel pharmacologic targets in obesity medicine.
Our current efforts modulate the Notch signaling pathway in liver, adipose, and β cells to ameliorate some of the leading causes of worldwide morbidity and mortality, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
